About Me

It Takes Courage to Ask For Help

When we decide to ask for help, we feel vulnerable and the most exposed. I think this may be the most difficult step in one’s healing journey- to reach out, let alone sit with a total stranger and discuss areas of your life that you wish to improve. I feel privileged and humbled to work as a therapist and aim to approach our work together with sincere, nonjudgmental curiosity and openness. I am LGBTQIA+ affirming and embrace cultural humility. I want to make sure that you feel seen, heard, and supported and check in frequently about power and privilege existing in our relationship. I recognize that intent does not equal impact and it is important that I am sensitive about the potential of recreating oppression and marginalization in our therapy space as a White, cis, straight woman.

Multiple Truths, Anchors, Trust

It is normal to feel overwhelmed, wary, lost, or even confused about the source of your pain and the difficulties you're facing. This is especially true in a society where heteronormativity, safety concerns, sexism, and racism compound suffering and oppress individuals, groups, and communities. Therapy can help you make room for this and can support you in shifting from a state of anxiety, shame, or questioning of "What's wrong with me?" to "What am I struggling with, Where did this come from?, What's coming up for me, and What do I need?" Allowing yourself to slow down and return to your anchors, trusting yourself over dominant societal messaging, and developing the capacity to hold multiple truths may be necessary to embrace the healing process- all of these skills are positive steps forward and can be extremely beneficial.

Permission to Begin Again

It’s possible that you desire a fresh start because you’ve reached a new phase of life, or you want a different perspective, you may be ready to deal with past hurts and move forward, you may want to let go of things that aren’t serving you, or you may need help navigating the oppressive people/systems that have impacted you. Although everyone has different challenges, we all share the experience of pain and the need for alleviation in order to enhance our quality of life. Therapy can offer you the space to begin again as many times as you need without judgment or agenda. Together, we can help you overcome your feelings of hopelessness and cultivate a sense of agency, and embrace living a more empowered, reflective, and hopeful life.
